Job Description

 The Communications Manager will be responsible for defining the Communications strategy for both internal and external communications, including preparation of sales and marketing materials and Partner communications.  They will create and execute the PR & social media strategy while building the Esoko brand in Nairobi and East Africa through PR and events. 

 Responsibilities

  • Define and implement Esoko’s overarching Communication strategy and plan
  • Develop and execute a PR strategy, build contacts with media representatives and partner organisations and actively monitor media
  • Define and oversee the social media strategy including management of the Company website, Facebook and Twitter accounts and internal online forums (Wiki)
  • Identify and help articulate the company's positioning for key products and services
  • Identify opportunities and events to build the Esoko brand (attend press conferences, product launches and networking events)
  • Develop and manage the Communications budget, including measureable targets, KPIs and evaluation of activities
  • Write and edit news reports, blogs, newsletters, website updates press releases and other internal and external communications
  • Guide team members in all communication activities and public relations
  • Manage employee engagement activities and internal communications (incl. HR)
  • Manage external agencies such as creative, web design or event planning
  • Manage other members of the Communications team

 Candidate Requirements

  • 6+years internal and external communications experience (min of 2 years as a manager)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal for a variety of audiences
  • Proven experience developing relations with partner organisations, media representatives and other external bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of the media channels on a regional, national and an international level
  • Strong advisory skills and confidence giving advice and information to senior managers
  • An in-depth knowledge of web and print-based marketing material
